What a joke.... I mean really. Play somebody...I would have hated to have bought season tickets to that....

Could easily go 12-0.... No wonder they want no part of the SEC.

are we talking about out of conference teams? Cant help who you have to play inconference. As a Vols fan I'm a little let down by our out of conference competition. Montana, Cincinnati, Buffalo & Middle Tennessee.

    Re: Virginia Tech-Really??

Listen I hate the fact UT dropped UNC. I don't like UT's out of conference schedule at all. But the fact is we do play everyone in the SEC east. Plus LSU, Bama, and Ark. from the west. So all in all we have a very tough schedule. A whole lot tougher than tech's. And at the time Cincinnati was scheduled they had just won the Big East.

The month of October alone UT plays UGA, LSU, Bama, and USC. Back to back to back to back. Tech hasn't played a string of games like that in …. Let me think ………ever..... That is two top 5 teams back to back. But what sucks is I will get to hear how great Tech is all year….. at least till they play someone.

One thing about it, UT plays in the infamous SEC (my fav conference) and Tech plays in the not as imposing ACC, but when they met a couple of seasons ago when they met Tech shined on em. I am a hokie and i can speak for alot of hokies when i say that this years schedule is weak as can be. I would love to see VT move to the SEC east so they could shine on UT every season

Yeah, being a VT fan we do have a very weak OOC schedule. Don't know why they came up with that one. I would love to see VT be the 14th SEC team as it sure looks as though A&M is all but SEC bound.

I know we would be an 8-4 team at best most years with an occasional bump up or down. That said, I also think we would see a huge bump in recruiting especially in the NC, DC, and MD areas where kids want to play in the SEC and could still be close for their families to drive to see them play the like of UT, UF, USC, UGA etc. As much as I love the Hokies, SEC football is where it's at. I won't let my O&M glasses cloud that fact. And I would absolutely LOVE to go to Lane on a Saturday night to watch one of the SEC Big Dogs come to town.

And if VT were to get that opportunity they would be crazy to turn it down. Not only for the revenue the SEC would bring, but the economic boost that traveling SEC fans would bring to SWVA. We all know that most SEC teams travel very well, and I would venture to guess that all except for maybe Vandy would bring better than Duke, Wake, Miami, etc.
"They (Miami) told me I wasn't big enough to play running back,'' said Ryan Williams with a snicker. "And they tried to offer me as an athlete or wide receiver."

but for some reason, the VT higher ups are totally against a move to the SEC. I cant figure it out either. The revenue, recruiting boost, better TV deal, more prestigious conference for football etc..not to mention better baseball. the ACC is by far the better basketball school, but the other two major sports belong to the SEC.

Some say its about academics, but its not like VT is Stanford.
